Mel asked the other day on her blog - does anyone read blogs anymore? Well I do. Why? Well, lots of reasons, but mostly cause I'm interested in what makes people tick and because some people just have a way of looking at things that puts life into perspective.
When I look at the people I have surrounding me at present, I can honestly say that there aren't that many who I'm really close to. As a 43 year old with a 16 year old, I seem to have wiggled myself into a place that is kind of just my own space. I work in a really small office so don't have close female work colleagues and my closest friends have young children and are therefore building new networks for themselves amongst playgroups and music groups. As a working mum who was always racing in and out of primary school to collect Caitlin, rather than being an integral part of the 'school' committee, I never really felt part of the gang when Caits was at primary school either and as a 'tenant' rather than a home owner, I've moved so many times, that neighbours haven't really featured highly either.
I think I need to start rebuilding my networks .......

Hi. Shani here, you may not remember me from Kiwiscraps, but I read your blog. Shocking at leaving comments, but I still love reading what people are up too via blogs rather than facbook etc. Are you still Scrapbooking? That has also changed lots now, not the same energy out there with it, it seems. Or is that a Wellington thing. Tale care, have a lovely week :o)
Yes I know what you mean. Some people have their school friends still - mine never seemed that close in the end. I know I am going to be just like you are saying too (am already really as we have been pretty transient and will be for a while too).I started my blog as just a reminder of things really and my husband sometimes asks me "who reads it, and I say mostly no one" take care and have a lovely Christmas
